Eradicating trafficking and exploitation with Child10
Throughout 2020, Applied Value supported multiple 2020 Child10 Awarded Members as mentors with our expertise. 87 unaccompanied minors living in inhumane conditions were supported, uniting 55 families across Europe.
One of the supported organizations, ADFEPE Guinea, reports that Applied Value participation in the Mentorship Program provided substantial support in creating sustainability in a newly founded organization, both in terms of funding but also at a more technical level. Through the support from AV’s mentors, ADEPE was able to adapt their activities during the COVID-19 crisis to support children to the increased risk of trafficking and exploitation.
Another organization that was supported by AV was Defense for Children International (DCI) Greece, says that the help from the AV was instrumental in strengthening their fundraising capabilities, which has been important for DCI Greece’s survival during the past year. Because of the support from Applied Value and Child10, DCI Greece managed to support 87 unaccompanied minors living in inhumane conditions on the Greek islands to apply for family reunification. Currently 55 cases have been approved and these children have been reunited with their families across Europe. They have also legally represented 47 unaccompanied children in their asylum claims and successfully argued for the release of 22 unaccompanied minors from illegal detention. In addition, they have supported hundreds of unaccompanied minors, including children subjected to trafficking and exploitation, through empowerment sessions and healing sessions.
